Customer satisfaction increases when their wishes are fulfilled. These wishes sometimes change very frequently. The PSIpenta Engineering module translates the bills of materials from design directly into a production-oriented structure and so simplifies short-term modifications considerably. So even equipment that is already being constructed can be further developed and modified as required.
Data generated in the design division is the basis for data (items, parts lists, documents) in the ERP system. This design data originates from CAD systems that are connected to an ERP system either directly or via EDM/PDM solutions. From a technical point of view, the design representation differs from production-oriented data processing. PSIpenta Engineering supports the conversion of BOMs from design into the structure required by production. Using specialist operations, the Engineering bill of materials enables the data to be converted into production-based views. Data can be modified using manual adjustments or drag & drop can be used to edit structures interactively and graphically.
Change management makes version maintenance of structures (parts lists, work plans, material and capacity tables) possible. Clear relationships usually exist between drawing number and item number. Small technical changes are recorded in the drawing and in the item as a modification index. The item is then recorded along with its revision status. The modification index can be specified in customer transaction and purchasing transaction lines and in the work order header. In material postings, the index is suggested and can be changed if necessary. In addition to the manually maintained modification index, a version number can also be used to track the changes to the structures. Basic data can be managed either with or without version maintenance. Structural comparison with basic data is employed to compare work orders with the corresponding basic data structures. Various messages indicate possible changes in the structures.
