Existing commercial ERP systems are often not suitable for planning and controlling value-adding processes in the production. The PSIpenta Planning, Execution & Control solution provides individually combinable standard modules for integrated planning and control of production for different areas of the company. All modules can be easily integrated via the standard interface PSIintegration. In particular, larger SMEs and international corporations that make high demands of their production-related software due to their complex production processes, already successfully use PEC solution modules: AUDI, Liebherr, Linde, SR Technics, Volkswagen.
Today, almost all businesses use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to plan and control business processes and to optimise coordination and resolve the various interdependencies. They ensure high transparency and rapid response on the corporate management level. Further potential savings are frequently hidden in the production and automation level and the optimised linkage of administrative processes with production processes. Surprisingly, however, IT support for planning and control still plays a minor role, particularly at the production level and even in plants belonging to internationally active corporations.
Businesses often use internally developed standalone solutions, which provide only partial and therefore inadequate support for increasingly complex processes, particularly across different departments. Particularly at machine level, every delay and every fault costs a great deal of money and puts delivery deadlines at risk. Amongst other applications, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) tools can help here by providing increased transparency and efficiency in the value-adding process. However, there is no single technology that is most effective. The decisive factor is a modular solution based on standard products that can be individually adapted to the company's needs. Combining MES components with specific supplementary modules such as order management, maintenance, material management or adaptive production control, along with the use of sophisticated interface technology, ensures an integrated planning and control system. We call this approach planning, execution & control (PEC).
Larger medium-sized companies and the corporate sector frequently use ERP solutions with a commercial focus. Traditionally, these have a very rigid design in terms of production control and do not provide adequate functions for specific requirements. These include mapping of work schedules, planning for limited capacities, sequence planning, maintenance planning for machines and software solutions for mobile employees. Companies are therefore not only looking for MES solutions for individual plants or production lines but also for suitable modules to expand the ERP system across all lines and plants — and, where possible, all from one source. This is exactly what the Planning, Execution & Control for production and maintenance (PEC) solution offers, with modules that can be individually combined for different divisions of the company. It is suitable for everyone from machine and plant manufacturers, car manufacturers and automotive suppliers to maintenance service providers.
All modules can be fully integrated into an existing software environment independently of one another. We do this by using an interface technology based on an interface known as PSIintegration 3.1, which has been developed by PSI and certified by SAP. This guarantees high-speed data collection and enables synchronous data exchange between systems.
